Shown below is an Auto-Ordnance advertisment from page 232 of the August 1921 issue of Outing Magazine, which suggests that the Thompson Submachine gun is just the ticket for "big-game hunting".

After the war to end all wars, Auto-Ordnance worked very hard to find a market niche for their excellent but very expensive to manufacture weapon. Hunting wasn't it.
